Gregory C. Skinner, D.D.S.Born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada on the 29th of September, 1951 to Barbara and Bernell Skinner, Dr. Skinner was raised in the small town of Twin Falls, Idaho where he went to school, and developed many interests in sports, music, art and scouting. He received many awards for outstanding achievement in these endeavors including the Eagle Scout, scouting’s highest award. Since graduating from Twin Falls Senior High School in 1969 in Twin Falls, Idaho, Dr. Skinner attended a year at Brigham Young University before going on a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Netherlands. Upon returning, he returned to BYU, to finish his premed studies. It was during the summer of 1974, as he was working at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, as a summer research fellow at the medical school, that he turned his interest and attention to a dental career. He completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and graduated cum laude at B.Y.U. in 1975. He took two years off from school, working a year as a biologist at a commercial trout farm in Idaho, and in wholesale merchandise in Boise for a year. During this year, he took the dental school exam and applied to dental school. Dr. Skinner returned to BYU and worked with Robert Seegmiller, PhD, in cell biology research while he awaited acceptance and entrance into dental school. He was accepted to nine out of the ten schools to which he applied, and chose the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco. Dr. Skinner graduated from dental school in 1981, in the top ten percent of his class. He is a member of the Tau Kappa Omega dental honor fraternity. He practiced dentistry for seven years in Salt Lake City, and for the past twenty two years in Southern California. His golf, music and artistic interests have flourished, having been principal percussionist in the Mount San Jacinto College Symphony and the Inland Valley Symphony. He has developed and sharpened his skills in oils, water color and photography. Through the years, he has been active in the basketball, Pony League baseball, and golf programs in which his sons have been active , as well as the Boy Scouts of America. He was coauthor on three scientific papers that were published during his years of research and holds three patents on dental products which are currently on the market. Dr. Skinner has owned a practice for the past twenty years in Hemet, California. He is presently working as managing doctor with All Counties Management, Inc. They have offices currently in Hemet, Santee, Escondido, and Chula Vista. He is the father of five boys, Bradley G., Mark Daniel, Corbin Lee, Jordan David and Aidan Daniel Skinner. He is currently married to Heidi Shafer of Costa Mesa, California. They reside in Murrieta, California. |
